South Park Neighborhood Guide

South Park sits just south of downtown Morgantown in a pocket of tree-lined streets and historic homes that has long attracted WVU faculty, staff, and longtime residents looking for something more settled than the neighborhoods closer to campus. Bounded roughly by Elgin Street, Cobun Avenue, Kingwood Street, and Lincoln Avenue, the area offers walkable streets, well-kept older housing stock, and enough proximity to the university to make it genuinely convenient without the noise and churn that comes with it. Kids ride bikes here, neighbors know each other, and the architecture gives the place a character that newer parts of the city simply do not have. The one reliable disruption is WVU game days, when parking becomes nearly impossible and most residents learn quickly to stay put. A handful of grad students and upperclassmen rent closer to the bridge, keeping the neighborhood from feeling entirely removed from campus life, but the dominant feel is residential, rooted, and quiet in the ways that actually matter.
