City Market Neighborhood Guide

City Market sits at the heart of downtown Savannah, anchored by Franklin Square and stretching along West Bay Street between Montgomery and Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard, where the neighborhood functions as the city's most concentrated entertainment district. Street performers, open-air art stalls, and live bands keep the brick-paved corridors busy well before most people sit down to eat, and the energy rarely drops below a low roar from Thursday through Sunday. Residents get the full downtown experience, including genuine foot traffic and a walkable connection to the rest of the historic district, along with the soundtrack that comes with it. The crowd here is unapologetically tourist-facing, which gives City Market a produced, almost theme-park quality, but the bones of the neighborhood are real Savannah, and the access to the rest of the city is hard to beat.
