Westerwood Neighborhood Guide

Westerwood is a midcentury residential neighborhood on the western edge of Greensboro, roughly bounded by Cornwallis Drive, New Garden Road, Friendly Avenue, and Lawndale Drive, and it has held onto the character that makes older neighborhoods worth living in. The housing stock runs heavily toward solid ranch-style homes built in the 1950s and 60s, many of which have avoided the aggressive renovations that strip neighborhoods of their original feel. Streets are walkable and tree-lined, the blocks have a genuine community texture, and proximity to Friendly Avenue keeps daily errands easy without requiring a car for everything. Westerwood is not a neighborhood built around nightlife or novelty, and residents tend to prefer it that way. For families and longer-term residents who want a well-located, unpretentious place to actually live, it delivers more than its low profile suggests.
