Lynn, Our Local Expert Guiding Your Move

Lynn has lived in Connecticut almost her entire life, and knows the difference between shoreline charm and quiet river towns. She's sampled pizza and donuts all over the state visiting all 169 Connecticut towns. Her most memorable (and probably last ever) move involved the trifecta of a hurricane, loss of power, and an August heatwave (so don't even get me started on moving horror stories!). She knits, bakes, metal detects beaches, and firmly believes New Haven pizza is a food group of its own. At Snappy Scout Lynn turns decades of CT discoveries into sage moving advice you'll enjoy reading and actually use.

How Do You Get Around Waterbury?

Commutes, congestion, transit, and parking: the daily logistics nobody puts on the listing.

The time I spend getting to/from work every day is

20 minutes if I-84 hasn’t invited everyone to the rush hour party.

Traffic congestion areas to avoid

The Mixmaster during literally any hour humans are awake

Ability to get around without a car

Technically possible via CT Transit buses, but you'll age faster than the route schedule.

Locals dream of driving around in a

Muscle car that turns heads on West Main Street.

The reality is that most locals drive

A dented, salt-crusted Civic that's seen more potholes than smooth pavement.

Quirky local driving habit

Waiting until the last second to get into the correct lane on the Mixmaster.

The likelihood of finding parking

Surprisingly decent unless you're near the Green on event nights.

#1 driving tip

Memorize the back roads because I-84 will betray you.

Local's Q&AReal answers from someone who lives here

Where I Go for a Quiet Escape

Have you ever wandered around a nearly empty mall? The Brass Mills Center has met the fate that many U.S. malls have faced, and now it’s a quiet reprieve from a busy city. There’s plenty of seating to people-watch or journal. There’s still a few stores, and more are opening up, so it won’t be quiet for long, but as of right now, it’s a nice hideaway.
