St. Petersburg Weather: Sunshine with a hurricane clause
Is it going to pour, thunderstorm, or maybe something worse? The summers are afternoons bring 3 p.m. rumbles and the winters a Sunshine City showcase. Here's what else is going on around St. Petersburg that will impact the time you spend outside.

Vanessa, Our Local Expert Guiding Your Move
Vanessa has moved so many times she basically has her own punch card — seventh move is free, right? After ping-ponging from Massachusetts to Fort Lauderdale, St. Pete, and now Tampa (with yet another move on deck), she’s a master of the “shove-it-through-the-doorframe” school of moving. When she’s not plotting how to downsize from 3,000 sq. ft-worth-of-stuff, she’s watercolor-painting, slinging dumbbells like a wannabe bodybuilder, or serving as parakeet wrangler and dog foster mom. She swears Florida sunsets beat California’s, and she has no regrets about trading in her New England clam chowder and lobster rolls for Florida's grouper bites and Cuban coffee. She'll pass on the gator bites, though. At Snappy Scout, her moving scars and Floridian street cred make her the trusted local to guide your next move.

What's the Weather Really Like in St. Petersburg?
The forecast, the fashion, and the fine print locals wish someone had told them sooner.
Summer temps be like
Sauna with waterfront views (low to mid 90s, feels like wearing a warm towel)
Winter lows are
Sweater for sunrise only (hovering in the 50s, shorts by lunch)
The humidity makes me
frizz like a startled heron
Unique weather patterns
Daily 3 p.m. summer rain pop ups, Gulf sea breeze mood swings, waterspouts twirling off the Pier, hurricane watch snacks stacked like sandbags
Local weather fashion tip
Umbrellas flip inside out, a light sweater in the summer for AC-blasted restaurants, polarized shades
You know it's time to get out of town when
the sea breeze taps out, the air turns chowder thick, and everyone whispers Blue Ridge road trip
Bugs be like
Mosquitoes with pilot licenses, no see ums named Brenda, lovebugs doing a soap opera on your bumper
You're stuck indoors again today because
the lightning app is screaming, the 4 p.m. downpour showed up at 2, and patio chairs are practicing cartwheels
Green thumb enthusiasts love
Bougainvillea fireworks, basil in February, mango and citrus by summer, plumeria perfuming porches, rain barrels that never rest even with sandy soil mischief
My Favorite Season in St. Petersburg
I love Spring time here (about March-May). It's arguably the most beautiful and comfortable time of year, and after months of shorter winter days and cooler nights, the energy just livens back up - everyone is out, the nights are longer, and it just generally feels like 'Florida' again. Like a renewal.
