Vanessa, Our Local Expert Guiding Your Move

Vanessa has moved so many times she basically has her own punch card — seventh move is free, right? After ping-ponging from Massachusetts to Fort Lauderdale, St. Pete, and now Tampa (with yet another move on deck), she’s a master of the “shove-it-through-the-doorframe” school of moving. When she’s not plotting how to downsize from 3,000 sq. ft-worth-of-stuff, she’s watercolor-painting, slinging dumbbells like a wannabe bodybuilder, or serving as parakeet wrangler and dog foster mom. She swears Florida sunsets beat California’s, and she has no regrets about trading in her New England clam chowder and lobster rolls for Florida's grouper bites and Cuban coffee. She'll pass on the gator bites, though. At Snappy Scout, her moving scars and Floridian street cred make her the trusted local to guide your next move.

What Does Home Look Like in St. Petersburg?

Prices, house styles, and the rental fine print locals wish someone had told them sooner.

Home prices are

hotter than a July sidewalk, wilder near Old Northeast, mellow by Tyrone.

Homes in St. Petersburg are typically

smaller than Midwest castles, terrazzo floored, lanai obsessed, quirky in the best way.

The dream house would be

Old waterfront bungalow with a dock, mango tree, and sunset proof porch.

The reality is that it will most likely be

mid century ranch with terrazzo, carport, and probably previously flooded.

I'll live anywhere except

a flood zone that doubles as a river every August.

As long as I'm close to

the Pinellas Trail, The Pier, a craft brewery, and a Publix "pub sub."

Stereotypical architecture is

Spanish Mediterranean meets mid century ranch with terrazzo and jalousie windows.

Sought after views

Gulf sunsets, dolphins at the sandbar party, St. Pete skyline at night from Pier Tiki

HOAs around here are

part hurricane committee, occasionally helpful, frequently email happy.
