South Lewiston Neighborhood Guide

South Lewiston stretches from the Androscoggin River south to the Lisbon town line, a wide swath of the city where lots run deep and neighbors are more likely to wave from a riding mower than a front stoop. The neighborhood wraps around Exit 80 of the Maine Turnpike, which gives residents fast access to Portland and Augusta but also means the low hum of interstate traffic is part of the ambient soundtrack. What draws people here is space: big yards, mature trees, and enough sky at night to actually see the stars. The pastoral character sets it apart from the denser neighborhoods closer to downtown Lewiston, yet the Colisee, local schools, and the broad commercial stretch of Lisbon Street are all within a short drive. It is the kind of place where people put down roots and invest in their properties, and where a backyard fire pit in January is considered a perfectly reasonable social occasion.

Cul-De-Sacs, Moxie Coolers, Exit 80

🧭Bordered by: Androscoggin River west along River Road to Ferry Road, south to the Lewiston and Lisbon town line by Cotton Road, east following outer Lisbon Street US 196 and the utility corridor, then north via Alfred A Plourde Parkway, Goddard Road, and the Maine Turnpike I 95 back to the river

📌Well known for: Exit 80 hustle and backyard bonfire diplomacy

👕You can spot a South Lewiston local by: Shiny clean truck backed into parking space, gear from every junior hockey team that's played in the Colisee

👍Move here for: Elbow room, quick turnpike access, surprisingly starry skies

👎Be prepared for: Plow berms and exit ramp engine howls

The overall feel is: Pastoral suburb with work boots
