Hannah, Our Local Expert Guiding Your Move

Hannah has spent her entire life in Illinois, learning early that the state is equal parts cornfields, quiet downtowns, and people claiming Chicago when they're really living a life in the burbs. She loves Mauve Cocktail Lounge treats, small town downtowns, travel books (she's been voraciously reading them since elementary school), ice cream at the OG Dairy Queen, and correcting grammar just for fun. At Snappy Scout, Hannah edits Illinois moving guides with decades of relocation experience, old soul wisdom, and just enough youthful energy to keep it practical.

From weekend adventures to iconic road trips, here's how locals spend their time off.

On a Saturday with perfect weather

Settlers' Park is perfect for soaking up greenery, especially after grabbing a coffee at Krema downtown while pretending your weekend errands don’t exist

When the gals come to town for the weekend

Wine tasting at Sable Creek Winery guarantees laughs, sips, and the kind of stories you’ll exaggerate for weeks

Dude hangout

Legendary Escape Rooms and Axe Throwing are basically mandatory if you want to prove who’s really the boss without actually going outside.

Rainy dreary day

Cosmic bowling at Twisted Pin is the ultimate neon-lit therapy session for when the sky refuses to cooperate

Outdoorsy

DuPage River Trail is where suburban nature meets cardio, and yes, those occasional river views make the sweat worth it

Fitness oriented

Plainfield’s trail system gives you miles of paths to run, bike, or power walk while convincing yourself it counts as a “nature break”

If you're a shopaholic

Downtown Plainfield is packed with boutiques and local shops that make it dangerously easy to justify another impulse buy

With your dog

Let Fido run wild at Daisy Dog Park, then swing by Craft’d for a meal on the patio where pups get their own menu (because he was a good boy and deserves a treat)

Family oriented

Bronk Farms turns any kid into a farmer-for-a-day, complete with hayrides, hands-on fun, and maybe a meltdown or two that you can laugh about later.

You have to see this

Lake Renwick Heron Rookery is basically a bird paparazzi hotspot where hundreds of herons and egrets show off their nesting game

On a budget

Cruise Nights in Downtown Plainfield every Tuesday from June through August let you soak in classic cars, tunes, and community vibes for zero dollars

For sports fans

Plainfield South high school football games are serious business with cheers, tailgates, and the kind of Friday night energy that makes you feel like a local legend

My Favorite Local Spot in Plainfield

Sovereign in downtown Plainfield: order the Wiccan Chicken. My close friends will see this and roll their eyes as this is my go-to order; I never experiment on Sovereign's menu... Wiccan Chicken is *IT.* This entree is clearly a chicken breast main plate - the chicken is breaded with a delicious mixture of herbs and spices, including a dijon sage cream topping. The mashed potatoes and green bean sides just make this meal feel like home cookin'. Oh... and the cocktails and overall vibe of the restaurant are amazing, too!
