Old Brooklyn Neighborhood Guide
Zoo-Side Living, Honey Hut, and Pearl Road Pride
🧭The Boundaries: Denison Ave to the north, the Jennings Freeway (OH-17) to the east, the Parma city line to the south, and Ridge Road/I-71 to the west.
📌Well known for: The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and the Brookside Reservation. It’s also home to the original Honey Hut Ice Cream on State Road (celebrating over 50 years of "Honey Pecan" dominance). For a night out, the new botanically themed cocktail bar Witch Doctor has brought some Hinge-date energy to the neighborhood’s historic Pearl Road corridor.
👕Spot a Local By: Porch-sitters with a permanent supply of Honey Hut napkins in their glovebox and a deep, spiritual connection to their local greenhouse.
👍Move here for: It’s "Leafy and stubbornly friendly." The commute to Downtown or the Clinic is a breeze via the Jennings, and you’re surrounded by more green space than almost any other city neighborhood.
👎Don't say we didn't warn you about: Zoo weekend traffic. From June to August, Pearl Road becomes a slow-moving parade of minivans.
