This list of fun things to do will take you from honky tonks to hidden gardens and give you a bold sampler of Nashville's culture and live music scene.

Mike, Our Local Expert Guiding Your Move
Michael is a Tennessee native who has lived, worked, or worn out tires in all three divisions of the state, from Memphis to Nashville to Johnson City, plus plenty of small towns that never make postcards. He once moved from the far northeast corner of Tennessee to the far southwest for college, stayed twenty years, then somehow boomeranged right back to Appalachia. He knows the difference between mountain quiet and river loud, will defend Memphis BBQ like its a birthright, and can point you to everything from out of the way eateries to where locals actually hunt. We are not all barefoot moonshiners, but yes, some of us know where the real stuff is. At Snappy Scout Michael uses that deep statewide mileage to refine Tennessee moving guides so they're as real as a proper BBQ smoke ring, not some oven baked liquid smoke waste of calories.

What Will You Do in Nashville?
From weekend adventures to iconic road trips, here's how locals spend their time off.
On a Saturday with perfect weather

Intellectually stimulating
The Parthenon gallery downstairs, Athena upstairs, civic mythology decoded, Civil War history tour, Andrew Jackson's Hermitage.
Artsy
Frist Art Museum, Art Deco daydream inside a former post office, Musician's Hall of Fame Museum.
Something inside and free
Tennessee State Museum, polished history and glorious free air conditioning.
Outdoorsy

If you're a shopaholic
12 South boutiques blitz, Draper James selfie wall, Five Daughters donuts.
With your dog
Two Rivers Dog Park zoomies, then East Nashville patio crawl.
Family oriented
Nashville Zoo kangaroo walkabout, kids shriek, parents high five silently.
In need of a selfie
The Gulch wings mural, line longer than a chorus.
You have to see this
Ryman pews at sunset, hear ghosts tune imaginary mandolins, Batman Building (AT&T building), Tennessee Titans football game.
My Favorite Local Spot in Nashville
The Cock of the Walk, around the corner from The Opry Mills Mall on Music Valley Drive, is my go-to eatery in Nash-Vegas. Start with the fried pickle and onion ring combo as an appetizer, but remember, skillet cornbread, coleslaw, hushpuppies (and sometimes pickled onions) are automatically coming to the table. I recommend the fried catfish fillet boat and the best sweet tea in the Nashville Metro.
