What's the Weather Really Like in Greensboro?

The forecast, the fashion, and the fine print locals wish someone had told them sooner.

Summer temps be like

surface of the sun in training (mid to upper 90s with a side of regret)

Winter lows are

jacket vs. coat confusion season (30s and 40)

The humidity makes me

question all my haircare product investments

Unique weather patterns

Four seasons in one week is the Piedmont special: morning frost, afternoon tank top, evening thunderstorm that rolls through like it owns the place. The mountains block the worst stuff, but we still get surprise ice storms that shut down the city faster than you can say 'bread and milk'

Local weather fashion tip

master the art of layering or die trying. That cardigan you wore this morning? You'll hate it by lunch and need it again by dinner

You know it's time to get out of town when

it's August and the heat index makes you nostalgic for winter, so everyone bolts to the mountains or the coast for that sweet 10 degree temperature drop

Bugs be like

Mosquitoes treat June through September like an all-you-can-eat buffet, and the cicadas provide the world's most aggressive soundtrack

You're stuck indoors again today because

another popup thunderstorm decided 4pm was the perfect time to dump an inch of rain in record time

Green thumb enthusiasts love

the decent growing season that runs April through October. You can grow tomatoes, peppers, and approximately 47 varieties of hostas that will somehow all survive. The clay soil is a nightmare, but raised beds are your best friend

My Favorite Season in Greensboro

Greensboro winters are really quirky. Usually, you enjoy mild temps between 30 and 60 degrees, which is fantastic, but even when there is snowfall or ice, nobody expects you to drive in it! Love it or hate it, pretty much everything closes down if there's any winter precipitation at all, and most everyone gets a break from work and school.
