Estes Hills Neighborhood Guide
Estes Hills is a leafy, established neighborhood in Chapel Hill where mid-century split-levels sit beneath canopies of mature trees and azaleas that have been blooming longer than most UNC students have been alive. Roughly bounded by MLK Jr Boulevard, Franklin Street, Fordham Boulevard, and Piney Mountain Road, the neighborhood offers walkable access to Franklin Street's restaurants and cafes, the Booker Creek greenway, and several well-regarded local schools. The streets are quiet but not sleepy, populated by residents who know their neighbors by name and take their curb appeal seriously. Deer and leaf piles are genuine seasonal realities, but for many that is a reasonable trade for the shade, the greenway, and the kind of neighborhood where a weekend morning walk tends to involve at least a few unhurried conversations.
