Coliseum Central Neighborhood Guide
Coliseum Central is Hampton's commercial core, a dense stretch of retail and dining anchored by Peninsula Town Center and flanked by more than a dozen additional shopping centers along Mercury Boulevard. The neighborhood sits at the heart of the Peninsula, bounded roughly by Mercury Boulevard to the north and Armistead Avenue to the east, putting residents within walking distance of the kind of everyday retail that most of Hampton requires a car trip to reach. The Hampton Coliseum, one of the region's most recognizable mid-sized concert and event venues, sits at the eastern edge of the neighborhood and draws crowds from across the Peninsula without requiring residents to deal with parking from miles away. The tradeoff is Mercury Boulevard itself, a corridor that can slow to a crawl under normal conditions and becomes genuinely difficult during events or weekend shopping hours. For people who prioritize convenience and want everything close, Coliseum Central delivers on that without pretending to be something it is not.
